For $125 you can SPONSOR A CHILD for horse or fish camp who can’t afford to attend. We get quite a few requests for scholarships each summer, and this is a great way to make a difference in a child’s life. The kids experience the unconditional love of horses and other animals, the attention and guidance of our wonderful volunteers, new friendships with other campers, and the awesome love of Christ!

You can even just TAKE A LOOK around your yard and see if you have any supplies we are currently in need of…

Animal Sponsorship Program

Each OBIC animal is a huge part of our ministry. Our wonderful volunteers guide each child to build a trusting relationship with the animals. Time spent with the animals is truly therapeutic for the kids. Ask any of our volunteers or parents and they will testify to it!  So many children have found joy in a horse’s unconditional love and attention. Many kids build confidence as they learn how to “control” and ride a huge horse. Grace or Falcon, and all of our animals, are able to coax a shy child out of their shell. They speak volumes of love to someone who has had a troubled past. What a great starting point for the child to start healing from past hurts and disappointments! They are satisfied after they spend time picking handfuls of grass and giving it to the happy bunnies. They learn about team work when a goat gets out and they have to corral it back into the paddock. They learn communication skills when they share about their experiences here or answer questions in a group setting. They work through frustrations and learn problem solving skills when they have a hard time leading a horse from point A to B. They learn patience while waiting their turn to ride their favorite horse. They learn that controlling their emotions (fear, excitement, frustration, etc.) make animals and people more relaxed in their presence. Not to mention the physical strength they build as they carry a bucket of water or a horse saddle. Altogether, a child’s experience here teaches them about the most important things in life. They grow in relationship with animals, peers, volunteers, and ultimately God. Our hope is that every thing they do here points them to the awesome love of God and the perfect sacrifice of Jesus for every one of us.

We are praying for sponsors to help cover the care costs of the animals. Below is a biography on each animal, as well as their monthly needs. If you would like to sponsor on a monthly basis or have questions, call Angela at 434-363-6088 or email Moriah at obicmoriah@gmail.com

In return for your faithful sponsorship, we offer you a free yearly trail ride for 4 or a free horse or fishing birthday party!
